Littleman – 20 Watt Instrument Amplifier
$65.00
The LittleMan LMA-4 is a modular* 20w amplifier built on the Pragmatic MBA-20 mono block Class D amplifier. The unit is powered by an external 12vdc/1800mah rechargeable LI-ON battery. The amplifier output drives an 8” Fender speaker.
The MBA-20 is designed for a Line Level Signal. Any device with a line level output will drive the MBA-20 to achieve the specified ratings (refer to the manufacturers spec sheet). To extend battery life, the LMA-4 does not provide any preamp or active tone circuitry. A mic, contact pickup, and most guitar signals are not powerful enough to achieve the full 20w rated output. Additional pre-amplification circuitry can easily replace, or be added to the chain. The inputs, volume controls, and treble roll off output are plugged into the mono block via an 1/8” mini plug. Adding a preamp or active tone circuit may require a larger battery or AC-12vdc adapter.
The LMA-4 provides two standard 1/4” inputs. Each input has a separate volume control acting much like a dual pickup guitar circuit. The treble cut tone control will affect both inputs as in standard guitar wiring. NOTE: both controls affect each input. When one is set fully counter clockwise, there will be no output to the mono block amp. When using a single input, set the unused volume control to full clockwise position. A volume balance between two separate signals can be achieved by adjusting the individual controls. Do not use a stereo plug. For use with a two channel/stereo output, plug the right and left respectively into each input. For channel balance adjust each volume control accordingly.
Combined with the volume and tone controls on your guitar, the LMA-4 serves as a low volume practice amp. At full volume and no treble roll off, a strong guitar signal alone is capable of producing distortion. Plugging your guitar into an effects chain or otherwise boosting the signal will achieve the full 20 watt output.
The battery has a power switch which serves as the main power to the LMA 4. Power On status is indicated by a green LED mounted on the control panel. To avoid damage to the charger, do not plug the included charger directly into the DC power in jack. It is safe to directly plug in an adapter with a higher amperage rating. If you must use the included charger, plug it into the battery, then plug the battery into the DC power in jack.
It is best to keep the battery fully charged. To charge the battery, unplug it from the DC power in jack, plug it into the charger and turn on the battery. The charger will indicate a green charging light. When the green light turns off the battery is fully charged. NOTE: the charge connector is an additional wire attached to the battery.
*The LMA-4 is modular in the sense that the inputs along with the volume and tone controls, amplifier block, and power supply are all separate components. Any single one can easily be replaced without affecting the others.
